Our Legacy

Established in 1964, MGDM Hospital, was a pioneer in offering good healthcare right from the time the founder Mr.Pee Gee Varghese established the hospital. He once encountering a critical accident had realised the lack of a good hospital in the area where in patients could be brought and given affordable healthcare.

PG Varghese as he is known around here was successful business man with a compassion and desire to help people. When the hospital was planned the thought was extending good hospital care at very affordable prices. This is a practice that we still have in our hospital and we continue to uphold his legacy. Popularly known far and wide by the place it situated in “Kangazha Hospital”

The hospital is named memory of the little hospital was named after MAR GEEVARGESE DIONOSIUS of revered memory, who was the Head of the Orthodox Church of Malankara (Kerala) whose piety and moral stature had always been a source in inspiration and a beacon-light to Mr. P. Geevarghese.

We were pioneers for bringing up the latest in medical equipment and treatment in this region. Some of the facilities which were not available in big cities were made available in our hospital. In 6 decades, we still hold a good name in the memories of countless number of patients who have had a taste of good healthcare in our hospital.

We are a soon to 300 Bedded Multi Speciality Hospital. The hospital is now in the transformation of being retrofitted to modern day technologies and comforts of super speciality hospital that is enjoyed in the city. The hospital would cater to almost all kinds of medical departments in the coming years. The location of the hospital is ideal for recuperation of mind and body in the pristine green village area where the air is pure and commercial sounds of the city are going to be missed. All comforts but in a home kind of care.

Opening of 75 Bedded Hospital, with round the clock services for Casualty, ICU, SICU, Laboratory, 2OT, Minor OT, Procedure Room, X Ray and Pharmacy. We currently cater to General Medicine, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, General Surgery. Super specialities – Pulmonology, ENT etc- All that are needed for current

Opening of 225 bedded wings of the hospital in accordance with the latest standards of the care that is available in a city. This would house all major facilities including Cardiology, Neurology, Obstetrics Ophthalmology, Oncology, etc. The most modern medical equipment would be used.

On a cool December evening, Mr.P.Geevargeese was relaxing after a day’s busy schedule. From terrace of his Manohar Hill Home , the vista is panoramic; but on that cloudy night, there was little to see except the few lights that glimmeredin the distant house. It was late and the township was asleep. Mr. P.Geevargheese was felt the tranquility of the scene reflected in his own heart.He was at peace. There was reason to be happy too. Business was booming. His factories were working to capacity and sales were brisk.He felt the smug satisfaction of the self made man that he was .

A rain-drop fell upon his bald pate and he decided it was time to retire. Ashe turned to go in, he noticed the table-lamp that the children had carelessly lefton the open terrace.In an automatic motion, he picked it up and began to coil the flex attached to it.A tremendous shock lifted him clear over the parapet and flung him to a distance of 15 ft. to the ground below, barely clearing a pair of iron prongs used for bending rods.

  • By 1970, the bed strength increased to 100 and New Departments ofE.N.T., Ophthalmology and Child Health were added.The hospital continued to progress towards its goal of bringing modern medicine to rural ‘India’.
